Michael Purves
Tallbacken was founded in July, 2019 and is led by Michael Purves.
Mr. Purves has more than 27 years of Wall Street experience.
From 2012-through June, 2019 he was Chief Global Strategist and Head of Derivatives Strategy at Weeden & Co., an institutional broker dealer.
He held similar positions at BGC and Pali Capital from 2009-2012.
Previously he worked at two hedge funds, Compass Group and Hudson Fairfax where he ran and/or supported single stock and macro economic analysis.
Michael also spent the first 12 years of his Wall Street career working in investment banking at S.G.Warburg, Merrill Lynch and RBC Capital markets where he advised on more than $22 bn in mergers and acquisitions and over $8 bn in equity and debt financings.
Michael has also served on several technology company advisory boards and has been CFO of an international telecommunications company.
He holds a B.A. from Columbia College and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business.
Mr. Purves is regularly interviewed on Bloomberg Television and Radio, CNBC, CNN, Yahoo Finance, RealVision, the TD Ameritrade’s Network and NPR. He is also frequently interviewed by the Financial Times, he Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg’s print journalism, and the New York Times.
